Today, the app launched a new feature that integrates Microsoft's Bing search engine, but this feature is only available to paying users.

According to the update instructions for the app, ChatGPT Plus subscribers can turn on a new feature called "browse", which combines GPT-4 and Bing search. When this feature is turned on, ChatGPT can give "comprehensive answers and up-to-date insights on events and information that are beyond the scope of the model's initial training data." In other words, this means that ChatGPT can use Bing to search the web and give more accurate answers based on the latest data.

It is important to note that ChatGPT is trained based on data prior to September 2021 and has no knowledge of subsequent events, but integration with Bing solves this problem, and similar integration is already available in the web version of ChatGPT. Notably, Microsoft invested billions of dollars in OpenAI earlier this year. As a result, Bing has become the default search engine for ChatGPT, and OpenAI's generative artificial intelligence is built into Microsoft's Edge browser and is part of Bing.

If you want to turn on this new Bing-based feature, users need to find the "Browsing" option in the "New Features" section and make sure to switch to the GPT-4 model. The iOS version of the ChatGPT app, which is available in more than 40 regions around the world, can be downloaded for free at App Store, and some features require a subscription to the ChatGPT Plus service for $20 a month.
