Among them, Japan's domestic production was 248287 vehicles, up 72.2% year-on-year, exceeding the level of the same period last year for five consecutive months; overseas production was 598713 vehicles, exceeding the level of the same period last year for two consecutive months.

In addition, Toyota exported 141774 vehicles in May, up 46.7% from a year earlier, exceeding the same period last year for the first time in six months.

Toyota Motor said production in China had fallen due to tighter emissions regulations in China, but production in North America and Europe had recovered as semiconductor shortages eased.
