CTOnews.com, June 30 (Reuters)-Volkswagen announced yesterday that its head of product strategy, Gernot Doellner, will succeed Markus Duesmann as Audi CEO in September. The analysis points out that the poor performance of the Chinese market and the slow development of electric vehicles are the main reasons for Audi's change of coach.

▲ Touyuan Audi earlier this month, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume (Oliver Blume), who has been in office for less than a year, said bluntly that Audi had not reached its potential and had failed to keep up with its competitors in the Chinese market.

Dussman, 54, who took over as Audi's CEO in 2021, has repeatedly delayed the release of important models over the past two years because of a slow software development process, straining relations between Porsche and Audi over future joint car development.

Dolner, who succeeded Dussman as a senior Volkswagen employee, joined Volkswagen as a PhD in 1993, promoted to head of product research and development at Porsche, and led the development of the Porsche Panamera series from 2011 to 2018. In 2021, Dorner became head of product strategy for Volkswagen.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that Audi's new electric SUV model, the Q6 e-tron, will be released at the end of this year after several delays. In mid-June, Dussman said Audi must speed up the development of new models to meet the surge in global demand for electric vehicles, particularly in China.
