CTOnews.com July 4 news, Canonical plans to launch Ubuntu 23.10 release in October this year, will introduce a new "application mall", significantly reduce the support for deb format, mainly snap format.

Ubuntu is a Linux distribution based on Debian, but Canonical hopes to increase control of application distribution and provide an application mall built entirely in snap format on the desktop side.

Ubuntu engineering director said that the new Tencent App Center will focus on the snap format to create a "snap-first App store" (the main snap app mall).

Both the Ubuntu library and the snap Mall will exist, and the latter can only install the snap version.
