NVIDIA and PCI-SIG have been working on improved versions with better latch systems and improved pinouts to ensure better connectivity between GPU and power supplies.

According to VideoCardz, NVIDIA's latest RTX 4070 graphics card has adopted the power supply interface of the improved sensing pin shown above. The new "12V-2x6" connector shortens the sense pins (the four data pins that define the wattage of the cable), a design that disables high power mode when the cable is not fully plugged in. In addition, MSI has deployed this new "12V-2×6" connector on its upcoming power supplies.

According to CTOnews.com previously reported, NVIDIA RTX 4070 and higher RTX 40 series graphics cards use this 12VHPWR high-power power supply interface, RTX 4060 series basically uses the traditional 8 pin power supply interface.
