CTOnews.com, July 5 (Xinhua)-- Volvo announced today that global sales rose 33% year-on-year to 66379 vehicles in June, driven by a surge in pure electric vehicle sales. Of this total, sales of pure electric vehicles increased by 346 per cent to 9535.

In addition to the impact of the surge in electric vehicle sales, ▲ Touyuan Volvo also said that the June data last year had been negatively affected by supply chain restrictions, resulting in a significant decline in production.

Volvo also said its total car sales in Europe, the largest market, rose 70 per cent in June and 53 per cent in the US, but sales in China fell.

In addition, Volvo sold 78194 cars on Chinese mainland from January to June, an increase of 11.7% over the same period last year, with a steady increase in market share, according to data released by Volvo Automobile official Weibo. Of these, Volvo XC60 sold 30040 vehicles, up 13.1% from the same period last year; Volvo XC90 sold 9764 vehicles, up 14.7% from the same period last year; and Volvo S90 sold 18393 vehicles, up 40% from the same period last year.

As of CTOnews.com, Volvo shares tentatively reported 219.9 Swedish kronor (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 146.79 yuan), down 0.11%.
