Meta officially launched Twitter substitute "Threads": there is no advertisement in the audience, and user information can be quickly imported through associated Instagram accounts.

Thank you, CTOnews.com netizen Jing Ke, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com, July 6 (Xinhua)-- Meta has now launched Threads, a social app for benchmarking twitter, because it is so anticipated. The app doesn't see any ads so far, and it also allows users to associate with Instagram and retain their fans and user names.

As of CTOnews.com 's release, Threads has risen to 27th in the "social" category in Apple's App Store. Downloads are expected to increase further as more users come into contact with the app.

According to App Store, the app requires the device to run iOS 14.0 or later, is classified as "12 +" and does not have any in-house options for the time being.

Threads is described as a "text-based dialogue application for Instagram", which allows users to post "Threads" and other users can reply, which is undoubtedly the product of twitter.

Another thing that is similar to Twitter is that the follower's Threads appears on the timeline.

Threads supports posts up to 500 characters long, as well as common content forms such as photos, videos and links.

Meta allows users to associate their Threads with Instagram, similar to the early relationship between Wechat and QQ, which means that information such as Instagram user names can be quickly transferred to Threads and can choose to follow the users they follow on Instagram.

Given the user base of Instagram, which will not be as limited as Bluesky or as difficult to use as Mastodon, the industry thinks it will pose a big threat to Twitter.

In addition, there are concerns that the app collects user data, and according to Meta, the app does not seem to be using any data to track users on websites and apps owned by other companies, which makes it more private than Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
