CTOnews.com, July 10 (Xinhua)-- A research team composed of associate professor Sukiji Kanno of Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan recently published a paper in the US "Science" magazine, claiming that it has successfully improved the fast charging performance and capacity of all-solid-state batteries. Among them, the indexes affecting the fast charging performance can be increased by up to 3.8 times compared with the current, and the positive electrode capacity is increased by 1.8 times per unit electrode area, which is the highest level in the world.

The ▲ Picture Source Pixabay research team said they had newly developed solid-state electrolytes that are the basic materials for all-solid-state batteries. By using this new material as a solid electrolyte, about 90% of the theoretical energy value of the positive electrode can be extracted at 25 ℃ at room temperature, resulting in a battery capacity of more than 25 Ma per square centimeter electrode, the highest level known so far.

On the other hand, the conductivity of lithium ion is also significantly improved due to the improvement of electrolyte materials, which can reach 2.3-3.8 times that of traditional materials, so that the ion conducts more smoothly and the fast charging efficiency is improved.

The research team said the results will provide new guidelines for the next generation of energy storage devices and will be the key to the iteration of electric vehicles and smart grid technologies.
