CTOnews.com July 13 news, GitHub today issued a press release announcing that GitHub.com website began public beta Passkey, entering the password-free authentication phase.

GitHub said that after the upgrade, users 'existing password login and 2FA login methods will be replaced with a more seamless Passkey scheme.

GitHub.com verifies biometric information, including fingerprints and faces, providing more secure information protection.

To start using Passkey on your GitHub account, you need to go to the Settings sidebar and look for the Feature Preview tab. There, you should see an option to "Enable Passkey."

According to GitHub, keys allow cross-device authentication, for example, you can log in on a desktop computer and verify your login on your phone.

Cipher keys are designed to be more convenient and phishing resistant than traditional authentication methods.
