Ubisoft developer: 3A Prince of Persia cannot coexist with Assassin Creed series games
CTOnews.com, July 17 (Xinhua)-- Foreign media thegamer interviewed Jordan Mechner, the developer of Ubisoft and the founder of the Prince of Persia game series, on Saturday.
The developer mentioned the status quo of the Prince of Persia series, a classic game that will return with Prince of Persia: the lost Crown after 14 years. However, the game did not become a brand new 3A product as fans expected.
Jordan Mechner pointed out that 2D is the right choice for the return of the Prince of Persia series, which cannot coexist with the Assassin Creed series because the Assassin Creed series has replaced the Prince of Persia series. "if you look at the Assassin Creed: Phantom, you can see that this style of 3A game cannot exist in the Prince of Persia series."
In addition, he believes that the Assassin Creed series has replaced the Prince of Persia series in the gaming industry, and fans should note that the former was initially positioned as a derivative of the latter.
However, this does not mean that the Ubisoft team has not produced a 3A version of the Prince of Persia game. According to data, a segment of a game called "Prince of Persia: redemption" was leaked a few years ago, but had to be cancelled because the development was not successful.
CTOnews.com previously reported that Ubisoft's horizontal action game Prince of Persia: the lost Crown will be released on January 18, 2024 on the PS5 / PS4 / XSX | S / X1 / Switch / PC platform. In this strange and thrilling action adventure platform game, players will play Sargon (he is not the prince of Persia, but the guard of the prince of Persia) into the fantasy Persian world, manipulating the boundary between time and space. Play Sargon, master combat skills, unlock new forces and unique skills, and grow from a blade-wielding wizard to a legend.
