CTOnews.com, July 18 (Xinhua) British High Court Judge Sir Marcus Alexander Smith recently issued a new order formally suspending the investigation of the British Competition and Market Authority (CMA), giving the two sides more time to start negotiations.

▲ Picture Source Microsoft CTOnews.com Note: judge Marcus Smith conditionally granted the joint request of Microsoft and CMA, and the Competition Appeals Court (CAT) ruled on Monday that a full hearing on Microsoft's appeal, which was scheduled to begin on July 28, was postponed to give the two sides more time to resolve the dispute.

The British CMA has long opposed Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but softened its response to the deal after the US Trade Commission (FTC) failed to appeal.

After another failure in FTC's appeal, CMA last week announced an extension of the review deadline of six weeks, originally scheduled for July 18, but has now been adjusted to August 29.

The new ruling of the British court means that CMA suspends the relevant legal procedures, which means that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has further landed.
