India accounted for nearly 4 per cent of global iPhone sales in the second quarter of this year, up 50 per cent from a year earlier, and currently lags behind only the UK, Japan, China and the US, the report said.

Apple's total share of the Indian smartphone market was 5.1 per cent at the end of June, compared with 3.4 per cent in the same period last year, according to Counterpoint Research.

Smartphones priced above $400 currently account for 10 per cent of total shipments in India, compared with 4 per cent before COVID-19 's outbreak, according to CTOnews.com, citing Counterpoint Research.

While Apple's iPhone retail industry is growing rapidly in the Indian market, Apple has also accelerated the pace of iPhone manufacturing in India. Apple has increased its investment in the Indian market, hoping to diversify its supply chain.
