CTOnews.com, July 20 (Xinhua)-- Liu Deyin, chairman of TSMC, said today that his plant in Arizona is "facing some challenges" and its production schedule has been postponed from the end of 2024 to 2025, according to the Taiwan media Economic Daily.

As for another factory in Japan, Liu Deyin said that its progress has not changed and will continue to mass production by the end of 2024 as planned. The plant will be used to produce 16nm, 22nm and 28nm processes.

In terms of European layout, TSMC said it would "accelerate the assessment" of special production capacity for vehicles in Germany and "still need to make a final decision based on customer needs and local government support".

CTOnews.com reported earlier that TSMC held a legal presentation meeting today, at which US dollar revenue was expected to range from US $167 to US $17.5 billion in the third quarter, an increase of about 6.5% to 11.6% from the previous quarter, and a conversion average increase of about 9.1%, which was about 10% lower than market expectations. The gross margin is estimated to be 51.5% Mel 53.5%, down from 54.1% in the second quarter, and the operating margin in the third quarter is estimated to be 38% 40%, down from 42% in the second quarter. TSMC said this was partly due to dilution factors in the initial mass production of 3nm.
