CTOnews.com, July 29, Jaguar took the lead in embracing the trend of electrification and delivered its first I-Pace electric vehicle in the United States in October 2018, but it faced fierce market competition and lagged behind in terms of cost, mileage, charging speed and performance, resulting in a decline in sales of its brand electric vehicles.

To reverse this trend, Jaguar announced an investment of 2.25 billion pounds (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 20.678 billion yuan) to significantly increase its electrified capacity and competitiveness.

Jaguar Land Rover official said: "this investment decision shows that the company is committed to achieving the strategic goal of becoming a modern luxury electric car brand by 2030."

Jaguar plans to launch a new high-end sports sedan with a range of 400mph (643.74 km), as well as a fast charging function that recharges for 15 minutes and has a range of 200mph (321.87 km).

Gerry McGovern, Jaguar's chief creative officer, said Jaguar's upcoming electric car would embody four key attributes: exuberance, fearlessness, uniqueness and progressiveness.
