Mazda adds touch screens to the 2024 CX-5 to enhance the Android Auto and CarPlay experience

CTOnews.com, August 8 (Xinhua)-- the Android Auto and CarPlay are important selling points for many new cars, but the experience of these in-car entertainment systems has been greatly reduced by the lack of touch screens in many Mazda models. In the 2024 CX-5, Mazda finally added a touch screen.

In many Mazda models, the on-board infotainment display can only be controlled by a "commander knob" located near the gearshift. This knob supports directional input, scrolling and pressing to select content on the screen. This works well with Mazda's own operating system, but Android Auto and Apple's CarPlay are more suitable for touch screen input, and navigating these phone-based platforms with knobs is often more troublesome than using touch screens.

Mazda is equipping all new CX-5 models with 10.25-inch touch screens to better support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 will go on sale later this fall, with overseas prices starting at $29300 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 210000 yuan).
