CTOnews.com, August 9, Google has submitted a patent application for "off-screen camera systems and devices" to the European Patent Office.

The patent shows an "off-screen camera" technology that Google is expected to install on future Pixel phones to compete with Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy S-Series phones.

In fact, ZTE has installed a similar "off-screen camera" technology in its Axon series of models, but Google's version has been somewhat improved, that is, it is equipped with two "under-screen cameras", similar to the "color + black and white" scheme adopted in the early rear-mounted dual-camera phones, which will combine the image information captured by the two camera modules and be processed by algorithms to output higher-quality photos and videos.

Foreign media said that it is not known which future Google will be the first to install the relevant technology, but Google will launch in October this year Pixel 8 series and next year will release Pixel 9 series mobile phone ID design has been finalized, so it is not expected to carry this hardware feature, if Google decides to use an off-screen camera in its Pixel phones, the first phone should be the next generation Pixel Fold.
