A few days ago, Christian Brabandt, the core developer of Vim, announced the future plans of the project. In the vim_dev mailing list, he announced that he had obtained the management rights of Vim on Github from the Bram family and invited more developers to join the Vim organization.
At present, Vim's new development team is beginning to merge commits, and their main goals are to fix bugs, provide security patches and document updates.
Other plans of the new development team include:
Release Vim 9.1 after clearing current backlog
Make Vim more modern
Take over administration and access to all Vim mailing lists
Unable to access Vim FTP main server temporarily, contacting Bram's family if they know credentials
Migrate Vim Project Home
Discuss whether to open source the Vim project homepage and use the power of the community to develop the project
