Microsoft introduced Visual Studio CMake debugger for VS Code

CTOnews.com August 11, Microsoft recently announced a partnership with Kitware to merge the CMake debugger in CMake version 3.27, and users can now use CMake debugger in VS Code.

It is reported that because the new CMake incorporates Microsoft's CMake debugger (CMake Debugger), the CMake debugger that could only be used in Visual Studio can now be used by VS Code users.

▲ source Microsoft official blog CTOnews.com found that the CMake debugger available for VS Code is currently available in version 3.27 of CMake, which is also included with the version after Visual Studio 17.8.At present, users can use the CMake debugger to debug CMakeLists.txt scripts as long as they install the CMake extension in VS Code.

Microsoft mentioned that because the debugger uses the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP) open protocol, it is compatible with many development environments.

By using the CMake debugger, developers can set breakpoints in CMakeLists.txt files based on file name and line number, and users can execute, skip or exit breakpoints.

Developers can also view the file names and code associated with debugging through the CMake debugger's call stack, and can also determine errors and warnings that the debugger automatically interrupts.
