BYD entered the Philippine market and reached a partnership with local company Ayala

CTOnews.com August 14 news, according to Nikkei News, Philippine local media reported on August 12, Philippine enterprise Ayala has formally reached a cooperation agreement with BYD. The two sides announced on August 11 that AC Motors, Ayala's automotive division, will be responsible for the sales and maintenance of BYD electric vehicles in the Philippines through its sales network.

Ayala has also recently built charging stations in various parts of the Philippines, and the introduction of BYD models coincides with its strategy to promote electrification.

Jaime Alfonso Zobel, head of AC Motors, said that as one of the largest multi-brand automobile groups in the Philippines, this cooperation with the world's leading electric vehicle brands is "a cornerstone of our goal of accelerating the future development of transportation in the Philippines."

Until then, the philippine auto market was dominated by japanese cars, with toyota accounting for about 50% of new car sales in the country and mitsubishi for less than 20%. Meanwhile, the penetration rate of electric vehicles in the Philippines still lags behind other Southeast Asian countries and regions.
