CTOnews.com August 16 news, the Thai Investment Promotion Council (BOI) issued a statement that Changan Automobile has applied to build an electric and hybrid vehicle plant in Thailand, with an investment of 8.8 billion baht (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.813 billion yuan), with an annual production capacity of 100000 vehicles in the first phase.

In addition, Changan Automobile also plans to set up a research and development center for important parts here for future automobile development.

Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary-general of the Investment Committee, revealed that the application was made after leading BOI to visit Chongqing at the end of June to meet with Changan Automobile Chairman Zhu Huarong and the company's management team. Narit said Changan began to explore investment opportunities in Thailand in 2020 and has held frequent meetings with the Thai Investment Committee since then. The company plans to launch electric cars in the Thai market by the end of this year and then start production there.

To attract investment, Thailand's BOI will provide incentives for all types of electric vehicles and a wider range of zero-emission vehicles, the manufacture of 17 key components, from batteries and platforms to complete vehicles, as well as investment in charging stations.
