The report says the Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom boosted Japan's GDP growth in the second quarter
CTOnews.com, August 19, the Japanese cabinet recently released a report on gross domestic product for the second quarter of 2023, in which personal consumption fell by 0.5%, but consumption of durable goods (durable goods), including video games, increased by 2.8%.
According to the Daily News, a Japanese cabinet representative revealed that the increase in consumption of durable goods categories is largely due to the recent release of new games.
The representative did not specify which game, and CTOnews.com attached the following popular games released in the second quarter:
The Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom released on May 12
Street Fighter 6 released on June 2
Final Fantasy XVI released June 22
Although sales figures for Street Fighter 6 and final Fantasy XVI are good, the best performer is Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom.
Nintendo announced that the Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom, released on May 12, has sold 10 million copies worldwide (2.24 million in Japan and more than 4 million in the United States) in its first week, making it the fastest-selling work in the history of the Zelda series.
