CTOnews.com GoPro's new flagship sports camera HERO12 Black may be coming soon, according to a WinFuture report, but the report also points out that the camera and the previous generation HERO11 Black are not too different in specifications and may not attract users to upgrade.

HERO12 Black originally planned to use a 1-inch sensor, but GoPro changed its mind and used a smaller 1/1.9-inch sensor. The camera can capture still images up to 27MP and video up to 5.3K resolution at 60FPS. HERO12 Black also supports HyperSmooth 6.0 technology, which provides better image stabilization when recording videos.

The camera still has two screens, the main screen on the back and a diagonal size of 2.27 x 1.4 inches, but it doesn't have a full-screen design.

Compared to the HERO11 Black, the HERO12 Black's biggest improvement is reported in battery life. Equipped with a replaceable battery of 1720mAh, the camera can record about 70 minutes of video at 5.3K resolution and 60FPS, and about 90 minutes of video at 30FPS, 10 minutes longer than the previous generation. At its lowest setting, 1080p resolution and 30FPS, HERO12 Black can record more than 2.5 hours of video, 13 minutes longer than its predecessor.

The camera weighs 154 grams and can be used at 10 meters of water without an external waterproof case. As for price and availability, HERO12 Black is said to be officially available on September 13 for € 449.99 (CTOnews.com notes: currently about RMB 3573) or $489 (currently about RMB 3570).
