The Russian state space company said: "Today, the Progress MS-22 is out of orbit. It entered the atmosphere and eventually reached the non-navigational area of the South Pacific."

CTOnews.com learned officially that the cargo ship detached from the International Space Station (ISS) at 2:50 Moscow time on Monday and began to fly freely.

The Progress MS-22 cargo spacecraft has been docking with the International Space Station since February 11, when it transported more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the station. During this period, the cargo ship conducted three evasive manoeuvres to protect the International Space Station from space debris and readjusted its orbit seven times as planned.

Next week, the Progress MS-24 cargo ship will replace the Progress MS-22 docked at the International Space Station. The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket and Progress MS-24 is scheduled to be launched from the Baikonur Space launch site on August 23. It is expected to arrive at the International Space Station in two days.
