Volvo sold 51636 vehicles worldwide that month, up 18 per cent from a year earlier, including 6660 pure electric models, up 167 per cent and 10345 mixed models, up 46 per cent from a year earlier, according to the data.

From January to August 2023, Volvo sold a total of 447492 vehicles, an increase of 18% over the same period last year, including 172125 new energy vehicles with pure electricity and mixed models.

In the Chinese market, Volvo sold 15760 cars in the month, down 8 per cent from a year earlier to 108468 in January-August, up 5 per cent from a year earlier. Including 1125 new energy vehicles: 200 pure electricity and 925 plug-in vehicles.

Specifically, pure electric models are down 59% from a year earlier, while plug-in models are up 10%. In addition, Volvo sold a total of 108468 vehicles in China between January and August, including 9860 new energy vehicles, up 5 per cent and 37 per cent respectively from a year earlier.

According to the plan, Volvo will soon launch a large-scale SUV EX90 and an MPV EM90 for pure electricity.
