Apple iOS 16.6.1 official release: fix ImageIO vulnerability
CTOnews.com Sept. 8, Apple today pushed the iOS 16.6.1 update (build number: 20G81) to iPhone users, 45 days after the last release.
It should be noted that due to the cache configuration problem of Apple node servers in various regions, the upgrade and update time may be slightly delayed in some places, usually within half an hour, not too long.
CTOnews.com queried Apple's support page, macOS 13.5.2, iOS 16.6.1, iPadOS 16.6.1 and watchOS 9.6.2 did not introduce much change in functionality, mainly fixed a security vulnerability, Apple said there is evidence that has been exploited by hackers.
According to the security support page, an attacker can create a picture of executing arbitrary code, which the user can click to access the system. Apple fixes the ImageIO process by fixing buffer overflows to improve memory processing.
In iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, malicious attachments in Wallet applications can also lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple solved the verification problem by improving logic.
