Sources say Mercedes-Benz's new CLA-class car uses BYD blade batteries.

CTOnews.com, September 9 (Xinhua)-- Mercedes-Benz unveiled the CLA concept car for the first time at this year's Munich auto show and plans to launch a production model in 2024, according to Battery China.

The car, which has a range of 750km, is expected to carry lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade batteries from BYD, and the MMA platform will support 800V ultra-fast charging.

Ola Kaellenius, chairman of Mercedes-Benz, said at the Munich auto show: "the floating cost of electric vehicles, including battery raw materials, software development and power costs, accounts for a large proportion of the total cost, and will still account for a high proportion in the foreseeable future, and it is not easy to pass on to consumers."

CTOnews.com found that BYD and Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, had already started work in 2010. the two sides jointly funded the establishment of Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd., each holding 50 per cent of the shares, followed by an equity adjustment at the end of 2021. BYD and Daimler own 90 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively.

Daimler, Toyota and other car companies successively visited the BYD battery factory as "customer number one" in 2020, and then BYD and Toyota and Daimler respectively reached cooperation in different directions.
