According to CTOnews.com news on September 13, CTOnews.com learned from China Information and Communication Institute that in July 2023, mobile phone shipments in the domestic market were 18.552 million, down 6.8% from a year earlier, of which 15.058 million were 5G phones, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 81.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

From January to July 2023, total mobile phone shipments in the domestic market totaled 148 million units, down 5.1% from the same period last year. Among them, 5G mobile phone shipments were 117 million, down 5.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 79.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In July 2023, 35 new models of mobile phones were launched in China, an increase of 59.1% over the same period last year, of which 18 models of 5G phones, an increase of 100.0% over the same period last year, accounting for 51.4% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

From January to July 2023, there were a total of 238 new models on the market, an increase of 6.7 percent over the same period last year, of which 103 5G phones were down 14.9 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 43.3 percent of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

In July 2023, domestic brand mobile phones shipped 16.237 million units, down 11.2% from the same period last year, accounting for 87.5% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 30 new models were on the market, an increase of 66.7% over the same period last year, accounting for 85.7% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period.

From January to July 2023, domestic brand mobile phone shipments totaled 121 million, down 9.1% from the same period last year, accounting for 81.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. A total of 219 new models were on the market, up 4.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 92.0% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period.

In July 2023, smartphone shipments were 17.287 million, down 9.6% from the same period last year, accounting for 93.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to July 2023, smartphone shipments were 142 million units, down 7.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 95.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In July 2023, 28 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 55.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 80.0% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to July 2023, a total of 201 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 8.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 84.5% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
