CTOnews.com Sept. 14, BMW product development director Frank Weber confirmed in a round-table interview this week that the classic performance car M3 will be electric in the future. "the next generation of M3 will be completely electric and will be launched around 2027."

Prior to this, CEO Frank Van Meel of BMW's M division revealed that the new generation of Neue Klasse platform will have more powerful power than the 1000kW, allowing four independent motors to work at the same time.

Frank Weber said the new electric platform "can drive people crazy" and can use the control of electric cars to make the whole vehicle more inclined to rear-drive models. He believes that the audience of the M3 model will pursue the strongest power and the highest performance, while saying bluntly, "everyone hopes that the electric version of the M3 can also do its best."

The first model based on the Neue Klasse platform will be the next-generation BMW 3-Series launched in 2025, and Weber hopes to launch the M3 "near" the launch date of this and the new model.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW's design department, said, "Neue Klasse's design is typical of BMW style, it is so avant-garde, it looks like we just skipped the first-generation model." At the same time, officials have announced that its "fresh, elegant and timeless" design will be the hallmark of future Neue Klasse models, and the first electric models based on this architecture will be put into production in 2025.
