CTOnews.com, September 18 (Xinhua) Porsche recently applied in Europe to register the sound of its electric car as a trademark, but it was rejected by the European intellectual property Office (EUIPO) on the grounds that the sound was not unique enough.

Porsche says the sound of its electric car has a sense of the future, rhythm, rhythm and power, which reminds consumers of the Porsche brand. Porsche also compared the sound of its electric car to the sound of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, the KITT scanner in Knight Rider and the lightsaber sound in Star Wars.

EUIPO believes that Porsche's electric car sound only mimics the sound of an internal combustion engine accelerating to its target speed, which does not allow consumers to distinguish Porsche from other brands. EUIPO also pointed out that Porsche's electric car sound is not a piece of music, which cannot be compared with Beethoven's symphony. It is understood that although EUIPO rejected Porsche's trademark application, Porsche has filed an appeal.
