Release of LG Gram Fold foldable laptop, priced at 4.99 million won
CTOnews.com, September 25 (Xinhua)-- shortly after Hewlett-Packard launched its Spectre foldable computer, LG today also revealed plans to launch its own foldable laptop. This product is called LG Gram Fold, and like Hewlett-Packard, the price is quite high.
The Windows 11-based device is a 17-inch QXGA+ 1920 x 2560 OLED touchscreen tablet with a 4:3 screen ratio, LG said in a press release. However, it can be folded into a 12-inch laptop, and the hinges can withstand up to 30000 folds. When folding, you can activate the virtual keyboard on the bottom screen and use it as a laptop. You can also place the Bluetooth keyboard on the screen below and connect it to the laptop, where the screen will automatically close.
If you hold the laptop horizontally and fold the center of the screen slightly as if you were reading a book, the screen will automatically rotate and adjust to make it easier to read an e-book or document.
In addition, if you expand the laptop and place it vertically, it can be used as a single monitor.
According to the page on LG's South Korean website, the LG Gram Fold will carry the 13th generation Intel Core i5-1335U processor, 16GB memory, 512GB storage space, 72Wh battery capacity, and three speakers that support Dolby Panorama.
The LG Gram Fold is equipped with a removable keyboard, mouse and stylus. The thickest part of the device is 9.4mm when deployed and weighs 1250 grams without a keyboard.
Currently, the LG Gram Fold is only available in limited quantities in the company's South Korea. It goes on sale on October 4 at a price of 4.99 million won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 27295 yuan). However, according to the official press release, the first batch of 200 LG Gram Fold buyers can buy it for 3.99 million won (currently about 21825 yuan), including some additional freebies, such as the one-year Microsoft service.
