Fate or luck, doctoral students Sergey Brin and Larry Page met in Stanford's computer science program in the late 1990s. They soon discovered that they had a similar vision: to make the World wide Web more accessible. The two worked tirelessly in the dormitory to develop a better search engine prototype. When they made meaningful progress on the project, they moved the business to Google's first office, a rented garage. Google was officially born on September 27, 1998.

Many changes have taken place since 1998, including our logo seen in today's graffiti, but the mission has always been the same: to organize world information so that everyone can access and use it. Billions of people from all over the world use Google to search, contact, work, play, and so on!

Thank you for growing up with us over the past 25 years. We can't wait to see where our future is going.
