"Fortnite" players customize the content of the game to force age classification.
According to news from CTOnews.com on October 4, the popular game "Fortnite" will have an internal age classification, a move designed to protect players from accessing inappropriate content.
Epic has partnered with the International Age rating Union (IARC) to launch a new system that will be available to all first-party and third-party playable content from November 14, 2023.
According to reports, to obtain an age rating, creators need to fill out the IARC content rating questionnaire, which is then reviewed by Epic, after which they can obtain specific regional ratings from IARC participating rating agencies, including ESRB (North America), PEGI (Europe) and ACB (Australia), ranging from E to the highest Teen rating.
The IARC questionnaire will be available on Creator Portal from October 16. Any islands that have not been rated before November 14 (CTOnews.com Note: "Fortnite" player custom content) will be cleared. Epic indicates that the level specified by IARC (from E to Teen) will be highlighted before entering the island.
In addition, with the launch of the new rating, the new parental control option will enable users to set age limits for content to prevent access to islands higher than a specific category.
