Experts invent new tools: can bypass Apple restrictions and repair MacBook display angle sensors
CTOnews.com, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) A German independent repair shop recently invented a tool called Nerd.Tool.1, which can bypass the anti-repair locks on Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and install the relevant sensors on their own.
The tool, developed by Stephan Steins of Notebook Nerds repair shop, allows independent repair shops to replace damaged display angle sensors on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
Previously, when the repair shop encountered such a failure, it could only be replaced by Apple officials, mainly because after the parts were replaced, they needed to be "calibrated" with the designated equipment, a step that only Apple could do.
CTOnews.com Note: the display angle sensor is responsible for detecting when the laptop is turned off, as well as the screen state, which puts the laptop to sleep. If the sensor fails, even if the laptop is closed, the screen will remain open, running out of power and keeping the fan running, shortening the battery life of the computer.
The Nerd.Tool.1 tool can be recalibrated after replacement without going through Apple, allowing maintenance technicians to replace themselves.
