CTOnews.com October 10 news, analytics company Omdia today on the X platform posted a series of predictions for the telecommunications industry.

Omdia said that although 5G communication technology has been widely used, mobile ARPU (CTOnews.com Note: Average Revenue Per User) will drop from $6.3 (currently about RMB 46) to $5.8 (currently about RMB 42) from 2022 to 2028 due to factors such as price competition and cost of living.

At the same time, capital expenditure in the telecommunications industry will increase by 7.6% from $355 billion (currently about 2.59 trillion yuan) to $382 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2.78 trillion yuan), with a compound annual growth rate of 1.3%, which is driven by industry competition and investment.

Omdia also said that by 2028, mobile RAN (note: 5G radio access network) related spending will decline.
