NEC successfully carried out long-distance field tests of the submarine optical cable system using a new transmitter with the world's highest 800Gbps (800Gbps) transmission performance.

The implementation route of field test

The field test is carried out using the submarine optical cable "Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG)" of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, tbk (hereinafter referred to as PT Telkom), the largest communication operator in Indonesia, and the latest transmission device XF3200 of NEC. Through field tests, NEC has implemented 800 Gbps optical wavelength division multiplexing transmission, successfully realizing the world's longest long-distance transmission of more than 2100 kilometers.

In the course of the experiment, through the use of the XF3200 transmitter, the transmission capacity has been increased by about 30% compared with the currently used NEC products, making it an ideal equipment to meet the expanding international communication needs. In addition, the adoption of new designs and technologies can save space, reduce energy consumption, have high scalability and flexible maintainability, and help reduce the total cost of ownership.

"I would like to thank PT Telkom for its full support in obtaining this world's first result," said Hirohisa Inada, minister of marine development at NEC. "this achievement proves NEC's leadership in ultra-high-speed optical transmission systems. We will continue to challenge greater capacity of undersea communications, greater flexibility and more cost-effectiveness."

Toto Sugiharto, senior general manager of PT Telkom, said: "NEC has been our important partner in submarine optical cable systems for many years. This field test proves that NEC's high-quality submarine optical transmission technology has been further developed to meet Indonesia's growing communications needs."

As the world's leading supplier of submarine optical cable systems, NEC has laid more than 400000 kilometers of cables that can circle the earth 10 times over the past 50 years. As a reliable system integrator, NEC provides all services such as the manufacture of submarine optical cables, submarine repeaters, land transmission equipment, marine survey and route design, installation and laying construction, training and delivery testing. The submarine optical cable is provided by OCC, a subsidiary of NEC, and the submarine repeater is manufactured by NEC platform Co., Ltd.
