NEC submarine fiber optic cable successfully realizes 800Gbps 2100 km long distance transmission
CTOnews.com, October 12, Japan (NEC) recently announced that NEC has successfully carried out a long-distance field test of a submarine optical cable system using a new transmitter with the world's highest 800 gigabit per second (800Gbps) transmission performance.
According to reports, the field test uses the submarine optical cable of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, the largest communication operator in Indonesia, and uses NEC's latest transmission device XF3200. Through field tests, NEC has implemented 800 Gbps optical wavelength division multiplexing transmission, successfully realizing the world's longest long-distance transmission of more than 2100 kilometers.
Officials say that in the course of the test, through the use of XF3200 transporters, the transmission capacity has been increased by about 30% compared with the NEC products currently in use, making it an ideal device to meet the expanding international communications needs. In addition, the adoption of new designs and technologies can save space, reduce energy consumption, have high scalability and flexible maintainability, and help reduce the total cost of ownership.
