Apple lists the original Apple Watch and Apple Watch Series 1 as outdated products
CTOnews.com October 14 news, Apple recently updated the list of obsolete products on the official website, this time adding the original Apple Watch and Apple Watch Series 1.
CTOnews.com Note: The first Apple Watch was released in 2015 and can be considered "Series 0." The models listed as obsolete include the Apple Watch Edition and Hermes versions, which cost up to $17000 in the United States.
In September 2016, Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 were launched simultaneously. Compared with Series 2, Series 1 cuts off the built-in GPS function, and also has "shrinkage" in terms of screen brightness and waterproof performance. After the Apple Watch Series 4 came out in 2018, the Series 1 has been discontinued for five years.
Apple generally considers a device obsolete within five years of its discontinuation. These products are no longer guaranteed to qualify for repair at Apple stores and Apple authorized service providers, but ultimately service is largely dependent on whether replacement parts can be found.
In late August, Apple also added the 2017 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar to its list of obsolete Mac products worldwide.
