Wine 8.18 release: enhanced Wayland window management, integrated FluidSynth libraries, fixed 44 BUG
CTOnews.com October 14 news, WineHQ is currently in the 2-week cycle to promote the Wine 8.x version update, the team officially launched the 8.18 update today.
Wine 8.18 further enhances window management for Wayland drivers based on version 8.17. Wine is pushing this X11 / XWayland alternative to provide native Wayland support for Windows games / applications.
Wine 8.18 also bundles the FluidSynth library for DirectMusic processing and implements more effect support in Wine's Direct3D (D3D10) code path.
Wine 8.18 fixed a total of 44 BUG, including the crash of Unreal Arena 2004.
Wine (abbreviation "Wine Is Not an Emulator (Wine is not a simulator)") is a compatible layer that can run Windows applications on a variety of POSIX-compliant operating systems such as Linux,macOS and BSD.
