It is reported that Apple will launch a new iPad mini / Air next week, but the specification has not improved much.

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Oct. 15, SuperChargedNews learned from a source familiar with Apple's media plans that Apple plans to hold a briefing with some media personnel later next week to focus on the new iPad product.

It is said that Apple will announce an update to its iPad product line as early as Tuesday, October 17 (CTOnews.com: Beijing time may be delayed until midnight or the next day), which should be released directly on the official website and put on the shelves.

The last time Apple updated its iPad product line was in October 2022, when it introduced the iPad Pro with M2 chip and the newly designed iPad 10, while next week's new product is expected to include iPad mini, iPad Air and entry-level iPad.

It is said that these new iPad products have a smaller improvement in specifications, but will be equipped with faster chips. Among them, the new generation of iPad Air will use M2 chip, compared with the current M1 chip, the CPU can be increased by 18%, the GPU will be increased by 35%, and the CPU will be increased by 44% (see iPad Pro), while the new iPad mini will use the A16 Bionic chip.

But in addition to the chip, there may be other changes to the new iPad mini / Air, but not much. As a result, the new iPad Air may still use last year's design and 10.9-inch LCD display, and will not support 120Hz ProMotion technology.

In addition, the maximum storage and 8GB memory of the new iPad Air may also remain the same. However, another possible upgrade to the new iPad Air is support for Wi-Fi 6e, which currently only supports 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

It is worth mentioning that there are rumors this week that Apple is planning to solve the iPad mini "jelly screen" problem, so users who want to buy iPad mini in the near future can wait.
