CTOnews.com October 16, Micron Technology Co., Ltd. announced a historic day when its new cutting-edge assembly and testing plant in Malaysia opened on October 15, local time, while celebrating the 45th anniversary of Micron's founding.

Micron has previously invested $1 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 7.31 billion yuan) and will build and fully equip the new factory locally in the next few years, increasing its area to 1.5 million square feet (about 139000 square meters).

The expansion enabled Meguiar Malaysia to increase production and further strengthen its assembly and testing capabilities, offering NAND, PCDRAM and SSD modules to meet the growing demand for technologies such as artificial intelligence, self-driving or electric cars, Meguiar said.

Micron also said its facility in Malaysia was the first facility in Micron's global network to be powered by 100% renewable power. The operation of this new facility will also support Meguiar's sustainable desire to achieve zero emissions by 2050 and zero hazardous waste from landfills by 2030.
