CTOnews.com, October 17 (Xinhua)-- in an update to a blog post today, Netflix announced that it will expand its cloud game testing to the United States, a service that allows users to play games streaming from the cloud on devices such as televisions or computers, which was first launched in Canada and the UK in August.

Netflix pointed out in a blog post that this is a "limited" test, so not many people will be able to use the service at first. (Netflix used the same "limited" wording in its initial tests in Canada and the UK. As with the original test, there are only two games available for streaming, namely "Oxenfree" made by Netflix's own Night School Studio and another game called "Molehew's Mining Adventure".

Users need to download Netflix's dedicated controller application on iPhone or Android devices before they can play games on TV. Netflix said cloud games can be run on "some devices", including Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, Roku devices and televisions. On the web page, users can play games with mouse and keyboard.

CTOnews.com notes that Netflix has been steadily expanding its game library and services to provide more benefits to subscribers. Most of its games can be used on mobile devices, but the company has also shown interest in expanding beyond iOS and Android. The company plans to launch games based on its own hit shows such as Squid, Wednesday, Escape and Black Mirror, and has discussed licensing a game in the Grand Theft Auto series with Take-Two, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
