CTOnews.com, Oct. 25-Apple plans to overhaul its Apple TV app with an tvOS update in December, integrating Apple TV+ streaming services and independent movie and TV purchase options, according to Bloomberg's Mark Goolman.

To promote the use of Apple TV apps, Apple plans to remove stand-alone "Apple TV" apps that can be used to rent and buy TV shows and movies.

In addition, the iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad also removes parts of movies and TV shows.

Apple hopes to guide users to use Apple TV apps, integrate movies and TV dramas, and Apple TV+ streaming content, and already offers a variety of third-party channels to meet users' subscription needs.

CTOnews.com learned from reports that Apple plans to make the Apple TV app a "hub" for streaming content after integration, and Mr Gurman said the redesigned app would have a side panel on the left that could be used to navigate between different video categories.

The updated navigation should make TV apps less confusing to consumers and make them more aware of what comes from Apple and what needs to be subscribed separately.
