Early next year, the platform will require developers to provide the ability to "report or mark aggressive AI-generated content" within applications, the company said. Google says it wants developers to use these reports to inform them of content filtering and auditing in their applications.

In addition, developers will need to follow Google's guidelines to prohibit and prevent the generation of restricted content, and some examples provided by Google include any content describing child abuse.

CTOnews.com notes that these policy changes apply to any application that uses artificial intelligence chat robots and artificial intelligence image / voice / video generators. However, applications that use artificial intelligence to aggregate content or improve productivity are not bound by this policy.

The company said future app access to photos and videos would need to be "used for purposes directly related to the functionality of the application". This means that applications that do not often need access to these features will be restricted.
