Sources say a retro version of Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 phone will be launched on November 1, paying tribute to the flip phone of 20 years ago.

According to the latest news from South Korean media news1, Samsung will launch this special version of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 phone in South Korea on November 1 to commemorate Samsung's flip phone, the SGH-E700, which was called "Mercedes-Benz" in 2003. Because of its excellent design, it was once described by a Norwegian newspaper as "the Mercedes-Benz of the mobile phone industry."
The SGH-E700 is Samsung's first phone with a built-in antenna and an external OLED color screen. It supports selfies and is Samsung's first phone with more than 10 million sales.
Samsung will limit the sale of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition in South Korea, which uses the same dark blue and silver colors as the SGH-E700 20 years ago.
Samsung, which re-emerged as the global leader in smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2023, has been trying to sell more foldable phones over the past few years to improve its ASP (average selling price) and profitability, and many other brands, including Google, Glory, Huawei, Yijia, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi, have also launched collapsible phones.
