CTOnews.com, Oct. 29, according to a UBS survey, Oracle's cloud infrastructure is facing GPU supply constraints rather than artificial intelligence demand constraints, which may affect its near-term growth potential.

To address the shortage of Nvidia GPU, Oracle said it would not pursue proprietary chip plans, but would focus on AMD MI300X chips and planned to launch them "early next year".

Oracle has placed an order for Instinct MI300X with AMD, according to MT Newswires. Although the report did not disclose specific information such as the number or value of orders, it did say that Oracle's current goal is to acquire AI chips from NVIDIA and AMD in a "dual-source" manner.

It is said that the Instinct MI300X artificial intelligence accelerator will be used on a large scale in mid-2024. In addition to Oracle, there are reports that IBM is looking to purchase AMD Xilinx FPGA AI solutions in an attempt to expand its NeuReality AI infrastructure.
