CTOnews.com, October 29 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- NTDEV, the developer who launched the extreme stripped-down version of the Windows 11 operating system "tiny11", has launched a new work: 2GB, the size of ISO, and tiny11 core, which only takes up 3GB disk space after installation.

According to reports, in order to achieve such a "mini" volume, developers have made a large number of modifications to system components such as Windows Defender, Microsoft Edge browsers and even Windows updates, so the system does not have built-in antivirus software or browsers, cannot install updates, and does not have built-in network drivers.

CTOnews.com note: due to the removal of the Windows update component, opening the update menu from Settings will cause the Settings application to crash.

However, tiny11 core can install a variety of applications (including browsers) through the Microsoft App Store or other sources, and the system provides users with a "roughly normal" operating experience.

Compared to the previously released tiny11, developers say tiny11 core is not a substitute for the former, but is designed to provide an environment for users to quickly test and develop applications or drivers in a virtual machine, thus avoiding downloading larger ISO images or wasting dozens of GB of disk space. Of course, because of its special nature, do not use it on mission-critical computers.
