Shipments of Omdia:85-inch TV panels increased by 155% in September compared with the same period last year, and the trend of large-size development has been determined.

However, shipments of 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch LCD TV panels increased significantly. As a result, the weighted average size exceeded 52 inches for the first time.

Omdia said LCD TV panel makers are gradually reducing production of 32-inch and 43-inch panels and focusing on large size panels (e.g., 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch). This indicates a long-term definite trend towards larger size TV panels.

At the same time, shipments of 65-inch TV panels were 2.5 million units, up 20% year-on-year. Shipments of 75-inch panels increased by 33% year-on-year, 85-inch panels increased by 155% year-on-year, and 98-inch panels increased by 48% year-on-year.
