CTOnews.com November 11 news, foreign science and technology media Phoronix recently released an article testing four ThinkPad notebook computers with Zen 2, Zen 3, Zen 3 + and Zen 4 AMD Ryzen mobile CPU respectively, to observe the performance differences of the four generations of products before and after the Fedora Linux environment.

According to the test results, the AMD Zen 4 architecture benefited in part from the AVX-512 architecture, with the most significant performance improvements, easily outpacing the performance improvements from Zen 2 to Zen 3 and from Zen 3 to Zen 3 +.

CTOnews.com attached four Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks with the following configuration:

Zen 2:Ryzen 7 4700 U 8 core 8 thread, 8MB L3 cache, acceleration clock rate is 4.1GHz.

Zen 3:Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U Magi 8 core 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, acceleration clock rate is 4.4GHz.

Zen 3+:Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U Magi 8 core 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, acceleration clock rate is 4.7GHz.

Zen 4:Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U Magi 8 core 16 thread, 16MB L3 cache, acceleration clock rate is 5.1GHz.

Phoronix does a lot of CPU and GPU testing on all four laptops, including browser-centric benchmarking, code compilation, Blender, 7-Zip, AVX-512, coding, games, and so on.

Overall, the performance of Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U is 30% faster than that of Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U Zen 3 + chip.
