CTOnews.com November 12 news, Mingfan UM780 XTX mini mainframe is now on the shelves, equipped with 65W70W performance release R7 7840HS processor, quasi-system price of 2899 yuan, optional black, blue and gold tricolor.

YouTuber TechTablets has tested this model, and the results show that the OCulink is really useful.

CTOnews.com Note: lightning and USB4 interfaces for external GPU currently have only 40 Gbps of bandwidth, while OCulink provides 63 Gbps of bandwidth.

This model is equipped with the AMD Ruilong 7 7840HS processor, the default TDP is 65W, and the maximum can be upgraded to 70W. Of course, the user must manually enable performance Mode in BIOS.

However, in this test, TechTablets only used the default setting of 65W and used an external RTX 4090 to run the score.

In the end, it scored 32459 in 3DMark TimeSpy, a performance loss of 10.5 per cent compared to RTX 4090 (average 36291) running in a standard desktop environment, but usually observed a 20 per cent performance loss when externally connected with lightning / USB4, indicating that OCulink does help to improve performance compared to lightning / USB4.

Although the OCulink has been improved compared with the traditional scheme, there is still a bottleneck because the R7 7840HS belongs to the mobile platform chip, while the GPU uses the PCIe Gen4x4 connection, so its maximum power supply capacity will inevitably be limited to 450W.
