Apple stopped signing iOS 17.1, upgraded iPhone no longer supports downgrade and recovery

CTOnews.com, November 15 (Xinhua)-- after Apple closed the iOS 17.0.2,17.0.3 signature verification channel this month, Apple closed the iOS 17.1 authentication channel today, meaning that upgraded users can no longer downgrade or revert to the firmware version.

Apple launched iOS 17.1 firmware on October 26 this year. This update mainly brings "AirDrop Internet transfer" and "improved Apple Music" functions, enhances "standby display" for iPhone, updates Apple Pencil (USB-C) support for iPad, and improves radiation problems in iPhone 12.

Apple released an update of iOS 17.1.1 on November 8 this year, which mainly fixed the wireless charging Bug of BMW cars and the "weather" widget that did not correctly display the snowy Bug.

Over time, Apple will gradually stop providing authentication for older versions of iOS to prevent users from downgrading to older versions of the software. Currently, iOS 17.1.1 is the latest version of iOS available to the public, while iOS 17.2 is currently in public beta and is expected to be released in December.
